Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

To be eligible for Medi-Cal, the income level for a household, whether single, married, and/or have children, must be below 138% of the FPL (($1,397 monthly, $16,754 annually). For families above 138% may apply through Covered California and get premium assistance through the government. The FPL chart applies to the following programs in other counties: 

  • Medi-Cal based on Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI)
  • Medi-Cal Access Program (MCAP)
  • MCAP – Linked Infants
  • County Children’s Health Initiative Program (C-CHIP: San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo counties only)
