Have you ever been to Disneyland? It is one of the most magical places in the world. Some people say that it is the HAPPIEST place in the world and I have to agree. At first, I thought it was a bit too much and I even said it was overrated. I was wrong.
The first time I remember going to Disneyland Anaheim was with my high school boyfriend with his senior class. It was a thing that seniors do before graduation - like a one last get together with friends and peers along with other high schoolers. Everything seemed so surreal. There were so many things to do and not enough time. We only had four hours to enjoy EVERYTHING! Really... just four hours?! When I had a family of my own, we would go as often as we could as long as we were able to afford it. It never got old. There was always something new. When the kids got older, we went less, because they felt that they were too big for it. My husband disagreed. He is a huge Star Wars fan, so when Star Wars came out with their new movie in 2015 during Christmas, he made sure we watched each one just to see his family go in shock when they found out that Luke and Leia are siblings! He even got more interested into Star Wars when all the other series started coming out: The Mandalorian, Boba Fett, and then the Batuu market at Disneyland was icing on the cake. He got annual passes just for that reason, so that he could get lost in the imaginative world of Star Wars. So, it was no surprise, when we both realized that he had just recently bought my FIRST Disney Official mouse ears at the park, a churro shaped mouse ears with a white bow. I wanted it, because it was so cute (he loves churros and it reminds me of him - seriously, he loves churros so much, we drove down south towards the boarder to get some fresh homemade ones... long story).
Yes, it was my very first mouse ears and he made sure I wore them the rest of the day. This particular mouse ears was made with very good quality and so the $34.99 was worth it's cost. However, unless I see another mouse ears that would be something I can't make, I will not be buying another. Which leads us to this very moment.
The average cost of Official Disney mouse ears is about $34.99. The quality is excellent and can hold its shape for years to come. With the cost of tickets, food, parking, and gift shops, not everyone can afford something as cute and adorable as mouse ears that would only be worn once or twice until a new one pops up! So, I've put a tutorial together for the frugal, craft loving, Disney crazed fan to learn how you can make one of your own mouse ears with materials from the Dollar Tree! The fact that the holidays are near, all the cute seasonal stuff are out, so I was inspired to make a handful of my own.
They came out so cute, don't you think?
These are available for purchase at my Etsy store for those who are not crafty and just want them already done and shipped to you. Well, let's start making yours. First step: Go to Dollar Tree and get all your supplies
*NOTE: I've only seen battery operated (AA) in stock. I recommend getting the Fairy Lights on Amazon... you get more and it's actually cheaper if you're planning to make more than one mouse ears.
Once you have everything together, use the glue stick to put all the pieces together. SO, start heating up your glue gun and get ready to get started. I've attached the YouTube tutorial below. Hope it helps! Enjoy! And please tag and leave a message in the comments area with your creation. I would love to see how yours turned out. And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. And if not, my apologies!
